The Newspaper Museum In Collinsville almost appears to be "winking" as a portion of the metal awning was removed Friday. The awning which has been in place for about 50 years, had recently separated from several support points and was hanging too low for pedestrian safety. I will have to make a repair or replace decision but don't have the budget ot time to do anything soon. The change will allow more folks to see some of the colored glass work that has been in place since 1925 having been added then to the building built in 1912. -- Ted Wright |
This 1949 photo (which I altered with my photo editor several years ago to over-emphasize the colored window panes) shows the former newspaper office before the awnings were added (likely in the early 1950s). |
A more accurate color view of the window panes can be had from the interior of the Newspaper Museum In Collinsville. |
Tim Desmond and Brad Francis helped me remove the damaged awning Friday Feb. 6th, 2009. |
Preparing
for March 21st |
The "LawDawgz" have been stretching and getting in game shape for the tackle football game scheduled for March 21 at Sallee Field (-vs- the Fire/EMS team). The "cops" team, coached by Ron Koscheski, has been practicing here Sunday afternoons the past few weeks. |

Wilson
Canopy Material |
The metal components of the canopy that will eventually connect the Wilson gym with the main building are now on the play ground. This improvement is one of several approved in the March 2008 school bond vote. The school board will be discussing the bids for the CHS track bleachers Monday. |
