Ward-Wiseman Animal Haven Pound Puppy
Gives Back To The Community
March 22 at the MDA / ALS Lou Gehrig Disease, "Hunt for the Cure" Fundraiser, Annie, as in Little Orphan, moved from the WWAH to a loving home in Tulsa. Chera Kimiko, Fox 23 News Anchor arranged for WWAH to provide a pound puppy for the live auction.
Annie was the perfect guest during the pre-party and dinner at Tulsa's plush Crown Plaza. When it was time for Annie to shine ...shine she did and the final bid for her was $10,000. Collinsville's little no-kill animal haven that is always working to raise funds for its existence was able to give back to a very important cause. ALS is an insidious disease. Researchers, scientists and clinicians are on a continuous search for a cure. Research costs average $85.00 per minute.Be assured, Annie's new parents were deemed perfect for our WWAH resident.

Tri-County Fair Board Meeting
Vanishing Sight? -- As the fair board members made plans (above March 24th) for the August 21-24, 2008 Collinsville Tri-County Fair they also discussed the potential elimination of the fair in future years if participation, volunteers and financial support continues to wane. Competition with other fairs (Coffeyville in 2008) also drains potential participants away from Collinsville. I missed most of the discussion and haven't seen the details yet, but understand the 2008 fair will be scaled back from the scope of the previous 63 years of the local fair. There are very few small community fairs remaining. If you would like to volunteer or suport the Collinsville fair contact me (or a fair board member). There will not be a published "fair book" this year but details will be posted on this web site when available. -- Ted Wright
