Clint Smith auctioned off hundreds of pies, cakes, cookies and brownies Tuesday at CHS. Parents, students and community business leaders tried to out bid each other for the tasty treats and to help support the school's track program. Clint said he has been the auctioneer for each of the annual events.
The CHS Commons room was packed as Chili's had donated the food for the dinner prior to the auction. Many of the participants were members of the growing middle school and high school track teams.
These CHS track team members dig into the cake they purchased with their high bid. Actually they were eating the strawberries off the top of their cake shown below.
These young ladies were inspecting all the goodies before the auction to decide which to bid on later.
The Junior High girls track team members walked each auction item through the crowd so bidders could get a close up view.
The payoff -- Bidders turned over their cash and checks in exchange for their pies and cakes. The final total was not available Tuesday night but all were sure it was a record amount and possibly in the ballpark of $5000.
The new CHS track is waiting for temperatures to remain above 50 degrees for at least 5 day for the final layer of latex cushioning material to be applied. The track teams have been able to use the current asphalt surface and will get to test their skills soon. The CHS team travels to Hominy noon Thursday March 8th and the 7th & 8th grade teams compete at Skiatook 9am Monday March 12.
