Collinsville's
Season
Ended At 6-4
Grove Will Host Playoff Game
|
Collinsville
QB Kevin Phillips (#11) had good protection on this (incomplete) pass
attempt to David Chester from the 19 with less than a minute remaining
in the first half. Tyler Tolleson gained to the 16 on the next play but
the Cards faced a 4th & 7. |
|
This
Steven Gerber (#81) field goal attempt (from Kevin Phillips' hold) was
the closest Collinsville came to putting points on the board against Grove.
The kick was just wide left as time expired on the first half. The teams
headed to the halftime locker rooms with Grove up 0-7. |
The
Collinsville band did not march Friday night as the Grove band (above) marched
their performance with light sticks and the field lights off.
The
Collinsville Crimson Cadet Band did entertain from the stands at Grove.
The
Collinsville Cheer Leaders helped bring the Cardinals back out for the 2nd half.
Thomas
Isam (#88) helped stop this Grove run down to the Cardinal 27 early in the 3rd
quarter. An incomplete pass on 4th & 12 a few plays later started Collinsville's
initial 2nd half possession at their own 25.
This
Kevin Phillips pitch to Jared Billups (#4) looked promising but Jared slipped
down at the 29 in the 3rd quarter.
Collinsville
fumbled to end their initial 2nd half possession but a Thomas Isam interception
stopped that Grove drive at the Cardinal 9 yard line where the Cards started
offensively (above) at 5:37 in the 3rd.
Collinsville
once again had a good representation in the visitors stands. Some (including
me) arrived via the charter bus sponsored by the Cardinal Quarterback Club.
Pizza, a movie and not having to drive was a pretty good deal, so a big thanks
to the football boosters. -- Ted
