Historic Collinsville Documents Donated
By Neil Wilson (CHS 1962)

While immersed in my effort to build approximately 144 web page (one for each of the 2006 CHS graduates) I received an email and subsequent donation this week that caused me to step back to a time with only 11 CHS seniors. I give a big "Thank You" to Neil Wilson (a 1962 graduate) who donated 1915 and 1916 Collinsville High School yearbooks to the Newspaper Museum In Collinsville this week. -- Ted Wright

Dear Mr. Wright,
My name is Woodrow Neil Wilson, Jr.
Woody Wilson was my father. While at my father's shop up the street I sometimes went down to see if John Wright would let me see the press run. He did, of course. What wonderful years the 50s were. I graduated from HS in 62. Have been practing law in Miami since I got out of the Army in 73. My great aunt died a few years ago and I have all of her High School year books "The Trails" from Collinsville..1914 thru 1918. Her name was Wanda Hodges before she married. I would be pleased to send you one or two for your museum if you wish. They would be your property..no strings. Is there an active historical society in Collinsville? ...Please advise.....
Neil Wilson (March 20, 2006)

Neil,
I would be delighted to have your CHS yearbooks in the "Newspaper Museum In Collinsville" (housed in the former News office). Bill Thomas is the only person I am aware of that is still active with the Collinsville Historical Society (since my Dad died in 1997).

I suspect my occasional trips into your Dad's welding shop were as much an adventure as your visits to the news office.

On Ted's Mind ...

1) I would like to see more participation in the Collinsville Historical Society (contact Bill Thomas or Ted Wright).
2) I would like to see the sign for "Woody Wilson Park" restored (near the depot).
3) If you have historical items you would like preserved for the Collinsville public (contact Bill Thomas or Ted Wright)
4) If you would like to view these yearbooks (and many other historic Collinsville items) make an appointment to visit the Newspaper Museum In Collinsville. Contact Bill Thomas to visit the Depot Museum.
