Collinsville
Starts Season With 2 Wins
These
are some of the many yards gained by Nick Rabbit (#22) on the evening as he
was the Cardinal's main offensive weapon in an exciting win over Catoosa at
Sallee Field Friday. This play was in the opening drive as Nick carried the
ball 5 consecutive times moving from Collinsville's 29 yard line to Catoosa's
8. Lenard Creek then gained 5 down to the 3 yard line while Nick had to come
off the field to get a cut wrapped. Rabbit returned for the next carry but Catoosa
recovered a fumble on the 4 stopping the drive. My notes are unofficial, but
I count Nick with twelve 1st half carries and eleven 2nd half carries. He had
two rushing TDs.
Nick
Rabbit (#22) also came up big on defense intercepting a Catoosa pass and returning
it for Collinsville's first touchdown at 9:10 in the 1st quarter. Catoosa started
that play at Collinsville's 26 yard line but pressure from Arron Watts (#35)
rushed the pass attempt. Watts kicked the PAT for a 7-0 Cardinal lead.
Cardinal
quarterback Tyler Chronister (#5) unleases a pass over the Catoosa linemen arms
which Adam Thomas (#81) caught at the 3 yard line of Catoosa. Nick Rabbit (#22)
scored from the 3 on the next play (below) with 3:07 left in the first half.
The 2-play drive started after Garrett Thurman (#24) recovered a punt fumbled
by Catoosa at their own 34 yard line. Another Aaron Watts PAT had the Cards
up 14-0.
These
CHS baseball players showed how good the turkey legs were that the team was
selling at the entrance to the football game Friday night.
On
Catoosa's first possession after going down 14-0 they attempted a backward pass
which Collinsville recovered on the Catoosa 28 yard line. Adam Thomas (#81 left)
took a reverse to the Catoosa 10. Two Nick Rabbit rushes got the ball inside
the two yard line. A pass to David Chester (#82) was not allowed as he was ruled
over the end line. Collinsville settled for a Watts field goal (below) and went
up 17-0 with 57 seconds left in the 1st half.
