JrHi Football at Sallee Field Thursday Night
In regulation play Collinsville stopped Catoosa 2 yards from scoring with a fumble recovery on their 1st possession of the game. Catoosa held Collinsville on downs less than a yard from scoring before the half.
QB Dylan Wiebe (#5) scored on this 10 yard run on the first play of overtime after a scoreless regulation time in the 8th grade game with Catoosa. Collinsville's extra point failed giving them a 6-0 lead before Catoosa's 4 tries at the endzone from the 10. Justin Carruthers sacked the Catoosa QB on 3 of those 4 plays sealing the Cardinal's victory.
This 8th grade Catoosa ball carrier was hit high and low and in between by the swarming Cardinal defense.
After stopping Catoosa's opening drive near the goal line the Cardinal offense was operating in their own end zone as the line tries to clear a path for Colton Overholt (#20) taking the handoff from quarterback Dylan Wiebe (#5).
In the 2nd quarter (but still on their first offensive series) Collinsville's Merin Oakley (#22) was one saving tackle from taking this play the distance. The play was stopped at the Cards 38 yard line.
Collinsville's Steve Majike (#48) blocked this Catoosa punt and recovered at Catoosa's 7 yard line less than a minute before half time.
Collinsville took 4 runs at Catoosa's goal (after the punt block) but turned the ball over on downs about a foot short of scoring. A Catoosa motion penalty cut that distance in half (above) but time expired in the half before this play was run.
Again time permitting, I'll try to get back and add 8th grade roster to this page later. -- Ted 2:50am Friday
