Bill Deatherage was the speaker for the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce Thursday. He discussed 3 items we sometimes take for granted: smoke detectors, carbon monoxoide detectors, and fire extenguishers. He stated that before their use become common there were an average of 12,000 fire deaths per year. Now that average is more in the 4000 deaths per year range. Bill reminded everyone to replace their batteries and have their extinguishers inspected regularly to keep them in proper working order.

Deatherage also mentioned insurance rate discounts for having all the detectors and extinguishers (as well as deadbolts for security). An even higher insurance discount was available with built in fire sprinkler systems.

Bill Deatherage and Collinsville Fire Chief Russell Young chat before the noon Thursday Chamber meeting.
Volunteers for the June 11th Hogs 'N' Hot Rods activities will be meeting tonight (6/2) next door to Greybeards at 7pm.
