Vision 2025 Neighborhood Funds Used to Develop Long Term Concept Plan to Aid Future Funding Requests

I've taken the liberty to add some color and larger annotation to the pool concept drawing presented today by Donald Paddock (of Paddock Enterprises). An overall park future plan was presented by Keith Franklin (of Landplan Consultants). Note: the pool and the other park improvements are not funded yet ... this is just the first step ... -- Ted 7/13

A public meeting at the Collinsville Library Wednesday July, 12, 2005 was the setting for initial presentation of a long term concept plan for future city park improvements. The plans represent suggestions make by city park staff, a citizens committee and compiled by Landplan Consultants and Paddock Enterprises.

The consultants will take today's comments and finalize the master plan and prepare cost estimates. They will also prepare illustrative sketches and prepare phasing options before presentation to the City Council.

With health department approval of the current city pool becoming less likely each year, the choice of spending money fixing the old pool -vs- a new pool were evaluated. The consultants recommend the new pool with the additional features as a better long term investment. Extensive modification to the existing pool would also require it be made ADA compliant. The initial cost estimate on the new pool is between $1 million and $1.2 million. Cost estimates on the other park improvements have not yet been released.
