The Oklahoma State School Boards Association is celebrating "School Board Recognition Month" in January 2005 to build awareness and understanding of the vital function an elected board of education plays in our society.
"School Board Recognition Month" recognizes the members of Oklahoma's 450 common school boards of education and 29 area career technology boards of education for their commitment to providing quality public school education in Oklahoma.
The Collinsville School District is joining with other districts throughout the state to recognize the important contributions school board members make to their communities.
"Oklahoma benefits from the energy and countless hours devoted by this group of volunteers. Over 2,000 men and women are elected by their local communities and receive no compensation for the hours they spend at meeting and going over reports and agendas. They are the local community's voice in it's schools," said Pat Herald, Superintendent of Schools.
"Even though we are taking this time to recognize their efforts, they deserve year-round recognition."
The men and women serving in our district are:
Wendell Johnson, President
Ted Clark, Vice-President
Donna Sears, Clerk
Joe Hampton, Member
Memory Ostrander, Member
