My knee surgery on June 16th was postponed because I got sick. I took tests yesterday and should find out if I am infection free today or tomorrow. So needless to say, I have to cancel my trip to Oklahoma. I was so looking forward to being there not only to see all of you but to spend time with my family. My surgery is scheduled for June 30 if I can stay healthy. I tend to get infections easy and my husband was afraid to let me come home and chance getting sick again.

I am sending you a short bio and a couple of pictures. I imagine they will be too late for the reunion but maybe you can put them on the web page after things settle down. I hope you take lots of pictures at the reunion and post them for those of us who are unable to attend.

Have a wonderful weekend and again I am sorry that I will not be able to attend.

The pictures are of myself with my husband and my grandchildren.

-- Debbie (Bailey) Clowe -- June 23, 2010

After graduating from CHS I went to Friends Bible College located in Haviland, Kansas. There I met and married my husband, Merle Clowe, a ministerial student. (In August we will celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary). I was able to complete two and a half years of college before dropping out to start our family. Our first daughter, Dori, was born in 1972 while we were still in college. In May of 1974 Merle graduated and we moved back to Colorado Springs where he was born and raised. Our second daughter, Dene’, was born in 1975. We lived and worked in Colorado Springs for almost five years. Merle worked in construction and then was hired on with the El Paso Sherriff’s department working in communications. I stayed home and took care of our two young children. We decided to go into ministry which was our plan from college and we moved to Hasty, Colorado in July of 1978 to become pastors of the Friends Church in that small community. We were there for three years and then moved to Pueblo, Colorado and became the pastors of the Friends Church there for fifteen years.
In June of 1996 the church in Pueblo closed and we moved back to Colorado Springs. Merle got a job with a local specialty gasses company and I began working in nutrition in a local school district as a school cook. Dori and her husband have two children and live here in Colorado Springs. Dene’ and her husband live in Wyoming. I of course have become the best grandmother there ever was, spoiling my two grandchildren, Kathryn (11) and Michael (5).
I still work in an elementary school but as the Kitchen Manager now. I also work as the secretary in our church (First Friends Church of Colorado Springs). I love living in Colorado but I do miss my family and friends back in Oklahoma.
