Existing CHS Gym Has Air Conditioning And Expanded Seating
New Gym Also
|There is still plenty
of finishing work to be done before the "existing" Collinsville
High School gymnasium is available for student use, but the two most visible
changes are the air conditioning duct work (along with the already cool
air) and the large opening on the west end (which has been a stage and
chorus room in recent history). The open area behind the west basket will
be a spectator area. A portable stage has been ordered and is expected
to arrive in October. There will also be new seats added courtside on
the south side. Work also continues in the overhauled locker rooms under
both sides. This gym was originally completed in the spring of 1969. Collinsville's
original gym was built in 1925, but burned down in 1983. The Middle School
gym was built in ~1984, the Herald gym in 1997, and the Upper Elementary
gym was just completed this August 2015.

for basketball and volleyball as well as plays and assemblies. The middle
school and upper elementary gyms allow additional combinations and variations.
at the high school is a new parking area to the north of the high school
(between the track and football practice field). The portion closest to
the new commons (for food delivery trucks) is concrete with the remainder
asphalt. Parking and entry for gymnasium events will be a bit different
with the new gym/commons configuration ... check back for details as those
plans are refined.
