I'm opting to not use names for these photos as I don't have rosters yet and don't recognize some of the newer faces ... but credit Lauren Wilson (above) with the first goal in the girl's game. The CHS girls scored 5 goals in in the first 8 minutes before Rogers' defense finally "woke up". It was 7-0 by half and cut short in the second half when the Lady Cards reached 10 goals. The boys game was more closely matched but I had to leave with about 6 minutes left in the 1st half tied 1-1. -- Ted Wright
Entry to soccer and football games should be a bit smoother (and less dusty or muddy) with the new pavement connecting to Maple Street. Soccer Coaches Justin Schubert and Marcus Martinez try it out as they transport equipment for the scrimmage Tuesday.
