a battle of unbeaten teams, Grove already had scored on their 1st two possessions
for a 0-14 lead before Dalton Salisbury (#5) scored from about 12 yards out at
3:22 in the 1st. Kyke Crutcher's kick put the score at 7-14.
Goosen (#21) intercepted this Grove pass at the Cardinal's 3 yard line at 10:29
of the 2nd quarter and the score at 7-21. Grove had scored on their first three
possessions before this Cardinal take-away. Collinsville had fumbled on their
first possession leaving only 40 yards for Grove's 2nd TD. Collinsville scored
on their 2nd possession and punted on the 3rd.
Cardinal offense started their 4th possession at their own 3 yard line following
the Goosen interception.
Lane Coulter (#7 left) would like to have this pass back after a Grove defender
(right) picked it off and ran it in for
a 7-28 Grove lead at 7:12 in the 2nd
quarter. The Cards had moved out from the 3 to the 26 before the pick. Collinsville
fumbled on the first play following the Grove kickoff but the Card defense held
forcing a Grove punt into the endzone.
started their 6th (& final) 1st half possession at their own 20 yard line
with 4:01 left before halftime. This Lane Coulter pass to Alex Goosen (#21) moved
the Cards out to the 42 following a sack to the 15: pass to Thomas Isam to 36:
holding back to 18; incompletion; Coulter keep + facemask penalty to Card's 34.
Dalton Rasmussen (#85) reception put Collinsville at the Grove 7 yard line with
43 seconds left in the 1st half. Rasmussen's previous catch moved Collinsville
to Grove's 30. Another Coulter keep plus a penalty had gotten the Cards near the
Rasmussen (#85) completed the 80 yard pre-half time scoring drive with this ~6
yard pass reception from Lane Coulter with 17.7 seconds to spare. Crutcher's kick
was good cutting the score to 14-28 at the half.
