The new bus loop between Herald Elementary and the ECC is spanned by a portion of a covered walkwalk between the two buildings. No cars will be allowed in the bus loop. The Herald parent drop-off and pick-up for cars moves to the south end of that building. More information for car & bus traffic is provided below.
Painters and other workers are still putting finishing touches on the new ECC building and grounds which will welcome it's first students in just 3 days.
The commons area is in the center of the new Early Childhood Center with Kindergarden classrooms on one end and Pre-K classrooms on the other. A total of 18 new classrooms will be added to the growing Collinsville School system with this bright colorful new building.
ECC Principal Janice Pollard is settling into her office at the new ECC facilities.
Teachers are still setting up their classrooms and planning activities for the young students at the new facility.
Great Things Are Happening At Collinsville Public Schools!
The Collinsville School System is so very proud of their new Early Childhood Center but along with new buildings and additions comes change. Sometimes change and learning new procedures can be difficult so we want to make parents aware that there are some major changes at Herald Elementary and the procedures of the new Early Childhood Center.

Herald Elementary

Please note that the former bus loop south of the Herald building is now the new parent drop-off and pick-up for cars. Cars may drive double wide through the south loop with the left lane turning left and the right lane makinga right turn. Herald bus students will use the new bus loop just north of the building. No cars are allowed in the north bus loop at anytime.
Note: If Herald parents also have a younger child at the Early Childhood Center, parents are to stay in the ECC parking lot and wait for their Herald sibling to be walked across by a crossing guard. Those students will be dismissed with the car riders at the 2nd bell which is at 3:15. We are encouraging parents to have their child carpool or ride the bus the first few afternoons because of possible congestion of traffic while learning new procedures. We very much appreciate your patience in this matter.

Early Childhood Center

Early Childhood Center students will be dismissed to their parents at 11:00 a.m. for morning Pre K students and 3:00 p.m. for all Kindergarten and afternoon Pre K students. At this time, parents will park in the ECC parking lot and students will be released to parents at the front entrance. We are encouraging parents to carpool if possible or have their child ride the bus. School will begin for Kindergarten students on Thursday, August 16 and Pre K students on Monday, August 20th

This is the bus loop (north of Herald and south of the new ECC) which connects to 129th East Ave. The Herald parking lot is to the left and the ECC lot is to the right.
The fence posts and freshly laid sod are in place for the future ECC play ground. The PTO is still in need of donations for the play ground equipment to complete the area. This view above shows some morning shade in the area just west of the ECC Commons. The baseball fields at the Sportsplex are in the background.
Just a year ago (August 2006) workers were pouring the footing for the new ECC center (with Herald Elementary in the background).
