I'm
not sure what Coach Rusty Poindexter told his players in this 4th quarter conference
... but they were able to hold Mannford and get several offensive opportunities
after being down 7-19 since 5:18 in the 3rd..
Nick
Rabbitt (#22) ran in this 3 yard Collinsville touchdown with 5:02 left in the
fourth quarter. The drive was maintained when Tyler Whitaker picked up a 4th
and 1 at the Pirate 39 yard line with 7:28 remaining. A pass to Ricky Rimpley
got the Cards to the 22 yard line with 6:38 left. Chad Ausmus got the ball to
the five yard line at 5:56. Zeb Yeager gained two more yards before Rabbit's
TD brought the Cards to a 14-19 score after including Jesse Bugg's extra point
(below).
Collinsville
was successful on all three PAT kicks. Mannford missed their fist attempt, tried
for two and failed, and kicked successfully on their 3rd try.

With
2:35 left in the game Chad Ausmus ran back a punt which would have given
the Cards the lead. The return was called back by a holding penalty. Chad
can barely be seen behind a Mannford player and the official (arrow in
the left photo) as he raced down the left sideline and enters the endzone
(right photo). After the penalty, the Cards were intercepted at Mannford's
44 with 2:14 left. The Cards then forced Mannford to punt one last time
with Ausmus taking the ball on the right within the Card 10 yard line.
Chad then weaved his way thru the Mannford tacklers and dived into the
left side of Mannford's endzone with 7 seconds left on the clock (see
page 1 of photos). |
