First Lady Cathy Keating was in Collinsville 3 years ago (in support of the
Main Street Program) when the Chamber of Commerce presented the signs honoring
the band after their 7th consecutive state championship. The band has earned
three additional titles since that event. The signs are displayed near V.V.E.C.
on Highway 20 on the west entry to Collinsville and on Old Highway 169 south
of Collinsville.
Main
Street was given the additional name of Crimson Cadet Boulevard by the City
in 2002 as can be seen on this sign on the east entry to Collinsville.
The
sign on the band bleachers at Sallee Field is also in need of some additional
paint for 3 more years winning by the Crimson Cadets.
Note:
An email from Mayor Sirmon (Nov. 20) indicates the City is coordinating with
the Chamber on getting these signs up-to-date.
