July 2002 -- City Workers begin marking off the path of sidewalk all the way to 19th. Actual construction from the High School to mid-block west of 21st Street was completed.

August 2003 -- The City subcontracted out the final few blocks of sidewalk and it is now in use by students and citizens.

The sidewalk runs from the street entrance of the High School along busy Highway 20 (Broadway) back to the S-Curve at 19th Street.
Workers completed the final few blocks of the sidewalk during August 2003, just after the start of the 2003-04 school year.
Progress stopped for about a year after half the sidewalk was completed in 2002.
The 1975 objective (above) was not reached until 28 years later.
