Approximately $15,000 Raised for Education Grants
July 16, 2003 Report From
Collinsville Education Foundation
Golf Tournament Results

Collinsville Education Foundation Trustees (above) discuss business at their monthly meeting held July 16, 2003 at the Silver Dollar Cafe. Their "Cardinal Scramble" 2003 golf tournament was held June 12th. Fourteen teams participated in the event along with numerous sponsors. Including outstanding pledges and grants from the Collinsville Masonic Lodge, the final results will net approximately $15,000. These funds will help support the foundation's mission to "Promote academic excellence with teachers and students by involving support of the entire community and, provide money grants for exceptional programs/projects not funded by Federal and State Tax Revenues beyond the usual budgetary constraints and boundaries of the Collinsville Public School District I-6." Approximately $14,000 in grants were distributed last year. The grants are usually awarded in October each year. The foundation was established in 1998.

In other business, the Trustees heard a report from Linda Pfeffer on a quilt commissioned by the Education Foundation for a future fund raiser. Linda was representing the local quilters that meet at the Library monthly. The Foundation hopes to have a new Christmas ornament on sale by Founder's Day (September 13).

The Trustees also approved a webpage on cvilleok.com to help promote their fundraisers and other activties. Click to preview an unfinished draft of that page. -- Ted Wright -- 7/19/2003
