Jim Riley Retirement Surprise
CHS Athletic Director (& Activities Director) Sendoff Assembly
Jim Riley is retiring (again) at the end of this school year and was surprised and honored May 9th when what he thought was a pep assembly turned out to be an event to show how much he is appreciated and will be missed. CHS senior Caden Weather (right) took on Jim's mannerisms and style and did what would normally be Jim's pep assembly role of promoting each team competing this spring. The event also included student entertainment in the form of an "American Idol" talent show. Collinsville sports and other activities have flurished under the direction of Jim Riley and he will indeed be missed.
Jim's family was in on the surprise and attended the event in the special shirts designed to honor Jim on this special day.
The "Real" Jim Riley
The "Fake" Jim Riley
The "American Idol" judges were look-alikes for Jim Riley (Caden Weathers), assistant principal Kurt Boomer (Zac Robbins) and principal Scott Kiker (Austin Marler).

Being more than a week behind working off news offers a "predicting the future" advantage of knowing Jim will also be honored at the May 15th Choir Concert & his A.D. replacement will be Spence Rigdon (at May 14th school board meet). -- Ted 5/17/2018
