CHS Football -vs- Oologah
Cardinals Win Season Opener With 49-0 Win Over Mustangs Here
It looked briefly like the football team would have to crawl thru the helmet as the top inside part of the helmet inflated in the wrong direction. Once that was squared away the rest of the warm summer evening was nearly flawless.
It took just two Jake Tuttle (#21) carries in the Cardinal's opening possession to move from their own 37 down to the Mustang 10 yard line.
Zac Robbins ($64), Cody Coughran (#63), and Nic Goldsmith (#53) anchor the offensive line.
Peyton Russell (#36) took a short Cole Dugger pass and tried to stay in bounds (after being hit) and reach the endzone but was marked out at the three yard line bringing up 4th and goal on the Card's first possession.
Jake Tuttle (#21) converted the 4th down play for Collinsville's first points of the 2018 season. After the kick by Ashton Jones the score was 7-0 at 9:15 in the first quarter.
Walker Roberts (#23) made the stop on this early Oologah rushing attempt.
This Cale Hutchens (#9) pass reception was called back in the Card's 2nd possession.
Malcolm Tillman (#24) trying to elude Mustang tacklers.
Braden Burd (#22) with a 2nd quarter rush. Burd, Tillman & Tuttle split time at running back (mostly by possession) all evening.
Peyton Russell (#36) took a Cole Dugger pass for a three yard touchdown at 7:54 of the 2nd quarter and the score reached 14-0 after Ashton Jones' PAT.
The Cardinal defense shut out the Mustangs. On the other side of the ball, the Cardinal offense did not punt during Friday's game at Sallee Field.
Walker Roberts (#23) fielding a short Oologah punt in Oologah territory in the 2nd quarter.
Jake Tuttle (#21) ran in the third Collinsville tounchdown from the 2 yard line with 3:36 left in the first half and moving the score to 21-0 after the extra point kick.
Cole Dugger & Cody Coughran exchange.
Gage Tacker (#84) late 2nd quarter sack
Seth Weiser (#6) kick offs went into the endzone nearly every time preventing any Oologah return possibility.
The Collinsville Cheerleaders' 2nd try at their halftime routine went much smoother after they were unable to hear their music well on the first try. They will be competing at the 5A Regional (at Broken Arrow) in just 2 weeks (2pm September 15th).
The Collinsville Crimson Cadet Band is still perfecting their 2018 marching program "When It Counts". Their first contest will be September 29th at Owasso.
QB Cole Dugger (#12) was flushed out the pocket and just kept running to pick up a first down on this 3rd quarter play.
Brayden Burd (#22) hugs the goal line with everyone else standing after he reached into the endzone from two yards out at 3:12 in the 3rd quarter. The extra point was good for a 28-0 Cardinal lead. Jake Tuttle scored the next touchdown with 40 seconds left in the 3rd quarter (also from two yards out) for a 36-0 score.
Peyton Russell (#36) scored a defensive touchdown after the ball was knocked free from an Oologah ball carrier. The scoop and score covered about 60 yards at 10:11 of the 4th quarter (42-0).
Ashton Jones (#20) converted all of his extra point opportunities out of Walker Roberts' hold.
You will need to see the video (Billy Baysinger Tweet) to apprecate this Hayden Knight (#52) "disposal" of this would-be Oologah blocker in the 4th quarter..
With Oologah threatning to spoil the shutout late in the game from inside the Card's 10 yard line, the Cardinal defense turned the tables and Caden Buoy emerged from this scrum (which the Oologah ball carrier was in the midst of) and took the ball about 95 yard the other way (#4 below) and the final Collinsville score with 1:21 remaining in the game. The kick was good for the 49-0 final score. (Baysinger Video Tweet)
