Strong
Regular Season Finish for Cardinal Tennis
The Collinsville
Tennis team has completed the regular season. They walked away from
their last regular season tournament with a salvo of medals. Cole and
Weathers continued their dominance placing second. They missed first
by a slim margin in a tiebreaker. Jake Lawson and "Bring the Payne"
Houts came away unscathed. They both wore 1st-place medals as they left
LaFortune Park.
Special Recognition
On a whim, Collinsville entered two JV teams into the tournament at
LaFortune. Allison Coons and Alyssa Hardy competed in the doubles bracket
on the girls side. The "Ball Busters", Austin Marler and Hayden
Knight competed in the doubles bracket on the boys side. These four
personify the traits of a Collinsville Cardinal. These first year players
won their medals with effort. They went up against more experienced
and more talented players. Instead of shying away from this challenge,
they rose to it. They had no interest in playing the sheep. They were
the wolves! Both groups finished 2-1 on the day and went home with consolation
finals medals.
