CHS Football -vs- Oologah
2017 Varsity Football Cardinals Lost Defensive Struggle 7-16
Walker Roberts (#23) hurdled a would-be Oologah tackler at mid-field and took this pass play down to the Mustang 20 yard line in the first quarter Friday at Sallee Field. Collinsville lost a fumble 2 plays later to kill the threat with 3:49 left in the scoreless opening quarter.

Fins Up -- for the sharks and other students in "The Trap" with the beach theme well observed.
Tate Robards (#8) taking a snap from Karson Cole (#60) late in the first quarter.
Braden Burd (#22) stopped this 2nd quarter Oologah play (with help on the way). Oologah did kick a field goal a few plays later to take a 3 point lead at 10:11 in the 2nd quarter.
Tate Robards (#8) completed this pass to Talon Counter (#7 below) in a Cards 2nd quarter drive that turned the ball over on downs at Oologah's 30.
A facemask penalty tacked 15 yards on to this Cardinal pass play to Cale Hutchens (#9) and Collinsville reached their own 46 yard line in their only scoring drive.
Braden Burd (#22) reached Oologah's 34 yard line for a first down in the scoring drive.
Jake Tuttle (#21) covered the final 6 yards for the Collinsville touchdown with 42 seconds left before the half. Tate Robards had escaped a few sack attempts on the play before to advance the ball from the 10 to the 6.
Ashton Jones (#20) kicked the extra point to put the Collinsville lead at 7-3.
After Oologah ran the Collinsville kickoff back to Collinsville's 41 yard line, three successful Oologah passes got them to the Cards 6 yard line with 6 seconds left. Tres Sexton (#59) pressured on this completion (above) but stopped the final play of the first half (below) to end Collinsville to the locker room still up 7-3.
The Cardinal Cheerleaders contine to refine their routine which they will preform in 5A Regionals September 16th at Union.
The Collinsville Crimson Cadet Band will peform their "Wild" (West) marching program weekly at half-time with their first contest September 23 at Owasso.
Big Swing -- early in the 3rd quarter Collinsville's players, coaches, and fans thought Collinsville was set up deep in Oologah territory after a Cardinal punt touched a Mustand and Collinsville recovered. Instead Oologah kept the ball and scored on the very next play (a 72 yard run) to take the lead for good (10:52 3Q). I was as close as any official and guarantee the punt touched both a Collinsville and Oologah player but can't swear in which order in a split-second ricochet? -- Ted
Malcom Tillman (#24) with a 3rd quarter gain at mid-field.
Coach Kevin Jones told his player that it has been his experience (both as a player and a coach) that you learn more from a loss than a win ... and that they had plenty to learn from this loss to a tough opponent. Collinsville travels to Catoosa next Friday.
