| House Fire Monday Feb. 1st at 14th and Pearl |

| A house at 622 N. 14th (on
the SW corner at Pearl) was heavily damaged by fire about 11:15pm Monday
Feb. 1, 2016. Collinsville Fire responded and called for an assist from
Collinsville Rural. That 11:15pm call indicated the structure was fully
engulfed but the flames were mostly contained by the time I arrived about
5 minutes later. There were still flames burning in the top of the tall

| Free ACT Test For All Juniors |

The State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister announced a pilot program giving Oklahoma’s 11th grade students this school year an opportunity to take the ACT exam. Under the initiative, the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) will pick up the costs for all public high school juniors to take the college-entrance exam. 11th grade students across the state will take the ACT on March 29th. Collinsville High School will meet with the Junior Class on Feb. 1st to present ACT information. CHS will offer the ACT free of charge to all juniors on March 29th, 2016. Students do not need to do anything to register for this event! We will take care of registration and reporting for this ONE time exam. | The Varsity Academic
team played in the OSSAA Area tournament at Claremore on Jan. 16. The
team played well, but was eliminated in the third round. Advancing to
State will be the Area Champion Claremore and Area Runner-Up Tahlequah.
The Froshmore (9th
& 10th grade) Season is still going. Collinsville Blue did not place in the first three tournaments, but came alive yesterday and won the Championship in the Humanities and Fine Arts Tournament. Blue team members, all freshmen, are Captain Matt Crabaugh, Will Boyer, Josh Roddy, Jeremiah Massera, Kendall Tweedy, and Logan Schnell. The Blue team will advance to the Froshmore State Tournament in El Reno on Saturday, March 5, 2016. Two teams from CHS will compete in the Oklahoma Regional Science Bowl tomorrow. -- Lynn Gowler 1/29/2016 |
