Previous Meet
March 15, 2016

Copied from last month's results --
The following topics were noted by the Park Board Tuesday 3/15/2016
(with all members present at the Park):
* City has marked future location of sand volleyball "court" (south of old pool house & east of new pavilions). Equipment has been received.
* Swing set frame need work before swing seats restored. West brace disconnected by tree roots.
* Trail lights and benches stored for long time ... waiting for electrical support and concrete bases.
* A few stumps need grinding/removal.
* Cutoff pipe needs removal by old bench (in concrete base)
* Tennis court grafitti ... needs solution
* Tennis court surface ... some cracks and openings
* New LED lights for tennis courts being discussed by city (per park supt. Bobby Romero) and hopefully light sensors instead of timers which keep getting reset by power outages.
* Softball field tree has grown tall in front of one field light structure
* Drain pipe / drain (east of tennis court) ... large rocks being moved by kids and drain being clogged by kids. Consider locking feature for drain cover. Maybe fence? (Unsure if middle drain cover has same issues?)
* Loose pavers by path beside softball/tennis are occasionally removed
* Softball outfield fence needs work
* Supt. has added sign to prohibit dogs from softball field ... as owners were not picking up after their animals
* Park board still in favor of speed bump(s) ... witnessed near incident with speeder and youngster on bike in the same roadway during this walkthrough. Waiting on city commission final action. Also consider increasing speeding fines for park location.
* Consider white paint for big pavilion ceiling framework..
* Loose conduit on cooking shed by big pavlion. Temporary fix on the spot.
* Consider future use of multi-level paved area where Kiwanis Hut had previously been. Potential parking if stripped and/or add picnic tables? ... or other use?
* Still need plaque for Nachtigall sculpture. Waiting on Wade's design and followup.
* Bathrooms remain locked by basketball court. Assume ongoing vandalism issue?
* Dead possum in creek to be removed ... and other trash/plant growth
* Consider asking NHS students for help on projects.
* Consider restoring small foot bridge across creek
* Consider potential use of city land north of creek
* Still need repair/replacement of 19th Street bridge and unsafe pedistrian walkway adjoining park on west ... likely tied to city tax vote April 5th

Note: some of these are only an issue due to ongoing vandalism by those disrespecting the park, others are normal wear & tear, or pending projects. No formal actions were taken during this informal status review of the park. The next park board meeting is scheduled for April 19th back at city hall. These meetings are open to the public. -- Ted Wright -- 3/19/2016

No "official" meeting April 19th with just two members present (Jenny Walker & Ted Wright) ... not enough for a quorum. -- Ted 4/19/2016
