CHS Baseball -vs- Skiatook
Collinsville Finallly Got In A Home 2015 Game ... Season Delayed by Ice & Snow Over Past Month
But Not Today's Light Rain
It was 5-3 when I left in the 5th inning of a rainy CHS baseball game here between Collinsville and Skiatook ... to get ready for 6pm school board meet. Both teams, coaches and fans are desperate enough to play despite the foul weather which has plaqued the start of this season. -- Ted 5:55pm Monday 3/9/2015
[Jim Riley reports 13-3 final score -- 6:51pm]
Catcher Dylan Russell tagged out the Skiatook runner trying to score from third base following a bunt in the 5th inning when Skiatook scored their only runs of the wet game on a couple of Collinsville errors. There were at least two Collinsville fans that watched the game in dry comfort Monday as the game proceeded in a light rain. They had come prepared with individual plastic viewing tents over their chairs.
Hayden Wichmann on the mound and Breyden Varner on first base.
The player/coaches "grounds crew" worked on the mound between innings to keep it playable in the rain.
Breyden Varner's hit reached the right field fence for a 1-run RBI double in the 4th inning.
Chase Wilkins had a two run double in the 4th to put Collinsville up 5-0.
Chase Wilkins had a mud covered uniform after a head first slide into 2nd base.
Chas Lorg with a throw from 3rd base.
Hayden Wichmann pitching.
These are just a few of the loyal fans that sat in the rain for a delayed opening day game.
CHS baseball fans will soon have a new seating area down the first base line. Athletic director Jim Riley called it a "birds nest". The scoreboard in the background is at the softball field beyond the baseball right field fence.
