A Memorial Service for Dr. Monroe Palmer has been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Collinsville, Oklahoma under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.

Thomas Monroe Palmer was born on Monday, August 31, 1931 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of Alvie W. and Lucille (Burgess) Palmer. He died at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday, April 17, 2015. He was 83 years of age.

Monroe was a 1949 graduate of Muskogee High School in Oklahoma. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1953. He went on to obtain a Master’s Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1956. He received a Doctoral Degree in Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary in 1985. Monroe married Miss Juanita Crawford at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on August 21, 1953. Monroe began his ministry as a youth pastor at Oldham Mission. As a Minister of the Gospel, he pastored churches in Hitchita, Wainwright and Park Hill. Monroe was minister for First Baptist Church in Jasper and Parthenon, Arkansas. He went on to minister churches in Panama, Ardmore, Collinsville, and most recently, Monroe was Pastor Emeritus at Faith Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. During his ministry, he performed 844 Baptisms, 370 Funeral Services, and 362 Marriage Ceremonies. He enjoyed playing golf and was loved by all who knew him.

Daughters -- Kathy Davis and husband Dennis, Glenpool, OK
Anita Berry and husband Jim, Ramona, OK
Melanie Garrett and husband Jerry, Collinsville, OK

Grandchildren -- Beckah Lucito and husband Jeremy, Ben Davis, Lesli Ann Allen and husband Jeremy, Ryan Garrett and wife Marissa, and Amy Garrett

Great Grandson -- Ethan Lucito

Great Granddaughters -- Grace and Hope Allen

Numerous Other Loving Family and Friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first granddaughter, Sarah Catherine Davis.
