Shirley Mae Cawvey
Henry passed on to be with the Lord on November 30, 2014 at her home
in Collinsville, OK. She was 77 years old, and had been in failing health
for some time. She had determined to have her remains cremated by arrangements
with Butler-Stumpff funeral home in Tulsa.
Shirley was born at Hulbert, OK on September 10th, 1937, and grew up
in the Tulsa area, graduating from Central High School in 1955. She
married Richard Allen Henry on May 13, 1955. She is survived by her
husband Richard, of the home, a son Ritch Allen and two daughters, Leslie
Diane Lee and Julie Kay Benfer. She also is survived by eight grandchildren
and numerous great-grandchildren.
Shirley volunteered for many years at church caring for pre-school children.
At Bailey Medical Center she volunteered in the maternity area, and
she also volunteered at Carnegie Library in Collinsville. She did volunteer
work until her illness in October 2014.
She invested her life in her children and grandchildren, instilling
her love of music into their lives through her personal involvement
of training in Musical Arts. She also spent countless hours at dozens
of baseball games watching grandchildren play baseball.
Shirley was a Christian, and that faith was evidenced in her life. One
of her favorite scriptures is from Matthew 18 verses 19 and 20:
"Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning
anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there
in the midst of them."
She also liked The Irish Prayer:
"May God give you . . .
For every storm, a rainbow;
For every tear, a smile;
For every care, a promise;
An answer for each prayer."
An Honorary Memorial come and go reception will be held at the Community
Room of American Bank, 200 E. Main St., Collinsville, OK from 2-4 PM
