4. Presentation from Nick Mendez on potential improvements at City Lake. --
Collinsville resident Nick Mendez (CHS 2006) and his brother Zach (CHS 2005) are offering to help the City of Collinsville develop a trail at the city lake for use by mountain bikers and walkers. According to Nick Mendez (who presented his concept to the park board Dec. 16, 2014) the city owned undeveloped area around the city lake is currently "abused" by people leaving trash and likely participating in illegal activities. He would like the area developed into a family friendly destination for recreational activities. Those activities could include hiking, biking, birding, and fishing (from the banks only as boats and swimming are not allowed in the city water supply reservoir). Mendez envisions a volunteer effort to help create and maintain a trail. Based on his recent experience with a similar group in Claremore he recommended hiring a professional to help design an appropriate and maintainable trail for this location which would likely require grants for funding. The agenda wording did not allow park board action at this meeting but the informal reaction from the board members present was totally positive and this topic will be the subject of further research and discussion.

5. Discussion and possible action on additional basketball court fencing. -- Approved. Although the previous addition of fencing on the NW corner of the court has eliminated most of the problem of missed shots rolling down the hill ... there is still a small gap from a specific angle that was not covered. The park board motion gives the city staff a low priority option to add another fence section when it can be tied to another project to hopefully keep the cost to a minimum.

6. Discussion of future and pending park improvements. -- none

7. Adjournment. -- 5:20pm
