5A State Softball Tournament
Collinsville's Season Ended With 2-3 Loss To Deer Creek (At Shawnee Thursday)
In Opening Game
Marissa Huggins (#13) and Sydnie McClelland (#21) converged in center field as Huggins made the catch for the final out in the 4th inning.
Gail Young (#2) held Deer Creek scoreless in her 6th inning appearance pitching for Collinsville.
There is still room on the new American Bank sign for new state champs. I'm disappointed some of the past champs (like the band 10 years in a row and the 2005 Softball State Champs for example) have lost their Main Street recognition. -- Ted Wright 10/18/2013 -- (11/6/2013 Should have also mentioned the 2009 Girls Cross Country State Championship which is now under-represented)
There weren't a lot of Collinsville folks out on Main Street at 7:45am Thursday morning to send the Softball Lady Cards off to the state tournament but at least one of them made up for the low numbers with enough enthusiasm for all: (Softball Sendoff Cartwheels By Roberta Kickapoo -- From Missy DeLozier's Facebook 10/17/2013).
Collinsville left two runners stranded in the 1st inning with Ravyn Murphy (#5) reaching 3rd base (above). She and Sydnie MCClelland both drew walks.
Senior Taylor Harness pitched the first 5 inning for the Collinsville Lady Cardinals against Edmond Deer Creek in the opening round of the 5A State Fastpitch Tournament.
Collinsville catcher Darci Chester has just tagged out a Deer Creek base runner at the plate to end the scoreless 1st inning.
Makayla Bowman (#23) is leaving 3rd base headed for home as Sydnie McClelland sent a sacrafice grounder to the right side of the infield.
Makayla Bowman (behind the catcher) has just scored the first Collinsville run (in the 3rd inning) and Brittany Kickapoo (#12) is trying to stop despite the mud by third base. Kickapoo scored on the next play when Rylee DeLozier's ground ball was misplayed by Edmond Deer Creek for a 2-0 score.
Taylor Harness pitched out of a based loaded no-out jam in the Deer Creek half of the third and Collinsville led 2-0 until a 4th inning error let DC on the board with 1. DC followed with a 2 run 5th to take the lead and held on for the 2-3 final today at Shawnee.
