From: Donna Sears Dougherty -- OKC

To: Terry, Lance, Memory, Steve, Wendell, Jana, and CPS staff:

It comes with great sorrow that I must submit my resignation to you. I have thoroughly enjoyed my nearly 23 years of service to Collinsville Public Schools and my Hometown community. My position has afforded me much information and increased my knowledge (sometimes more than needed)!! We have all shared laughter, tears and had sorrows in our lives, but I know that I could call upon anyone in our school system, or town for that matter, to help me in a crisis. That alone is a huge comfort and not one that many are given the opportunity to boast about! Friends do not come easily, so I cherish everything about each and everyone.

My home of nearly 20 years has been sold, another reason for my resignation. I am in the process of packing and moving to Oklahoma City. Also I have not been at the past few meetings, which isn’t fair to the rest of my team members, since I am unable to fufill my duties.

Most of you know I got married January 26th to a wonderful man, most have had the pleasure to meet. He unfortunately soon after was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Leukemia, Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm, and is undergoing chemotherapy. We will be returning to MD Anderson next week for his evaluation of a Stem Cell Transplant. I took my “For Better or Worse” vows seriously, but did not think they would be “tested” so quickly. Chemo does so many things to your mind and body, and to the caregiver (me) as well!!!

This has so far been a huge test of my faith, strength, endurance, and love. Hug your friends and loved ones, tell them how important they are to you. CPS, I give hugs to all and say thank you for letting me serve you and thank you for the confidence you instilled in me to make decisions.

I will ALWAYS be a Cardinal fan and supporter of Collinsville Public Schools. I am proud to say we have the best educators and staff due to our great leadership. Very honored to be a CHS graduate and was able to give each of my three children their diplomas. My grandchildren attend school here. Wow, I feel old!!

Thank you,
Love and Prayers,

Donna E. (Sears) Dougherty
