The Women’s Concert Choir & Handbell Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Betty-Ann Lynerd of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, will be performing on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 6:30 PM at First Baptist Church, 1301 W Main, Collinsville, OK.

Founded in 1955, the Women's Concert Choir & Handbell Ensemble have sung and played to enthusiastic audiences all over the United States, as well as Canada, Europe, South America, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and most recently Israel (2011). The choir, composed of 40-50 women, representing a variety of academic majors, sings to worship God with their music while emphasizing artistic excellence. The Handbell Ensemble is selected from the musicians within the choir, and plays a diverse repertoire of arrangements and original music on a six octave set of English handbells.
Betty-Ann Lynerd, conductor, brings to Moody Bible Institute a rich experience in choral conducting, church music, and classroom teaching. Her music training and degrees are from Westminster College, Montclair University, Westminster Choir College, and doctorate in theology, from Trinity Theological Seminary.
Dr. Lynerd has conducted choirs throughout the United States abroad. Here choruses have sung with the National Symphony Orchestra, members of the Cleveland Orchestra and at the United States Naval Academy. She has led academic women’s and mixed choirs, served as music director in five churches and has led workshops on worship and the arts. As choral clinician, she has led festival choirs in the United States, Canada, Russia, and South Korea. She has served as president of the American Choral Directors Association for Washington, D.C. and is published in several journals about women in music. As a church musician she has energized the music and worship in churches including Calvary Baptist Church in NYC, Grace Presbyterian Church in Lanham, MD, and Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, TX. She has served on the Maryland States Arts Council, and has initiated and led humanities and arts programs in Cleveland, OH. Past faculty appointments include Cuyahoga Community College, George Mason University, The King’s College, and Nyack College. A particular interest of hers is the application of theology with the fine arts. Dr. Lynerd joined the fulltime music faculty at Moody in 2011.
The Moody Bible Institute, founded in 1886 by evangelist D.L. Moody, is a non-denominational undergraduate and graduate level institution that educates and trains men and women for Christian service. It is an accredited member of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), and the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA). The Music Department has been an integral part of the Institute’s curriculum since its founding. In addition to the Women's Concert Choir, Moody has three other touring ensembles: the Moody Men's Collegiate Choir, the Moody Chorale and the Symphonic Band.
