Piece-by-piece the new portions of the trail in Collinsville City Park are nearing completion. But with a just few days left before the expected big crowd on the evening of July 2nd ... the city and contractors are scrambling to have the active construction areas minimized. As of Thursday June 26th, almost the entire area between the tennis courts and the splash pad had work still to be competed. Check back for an update closer to the (2-day early) Independence Day event.
Seven new trees have been planted near the play equipment and splash pad area as part of the current park improvement project which includes the trail extension, picnic shelters, and a new parking area.
Ten new paved parking spots will eventually be in this area near the basketball court serving the center part of the park.
Buses will be running from high school to splash pad parking lot July 2nd.
