New Layer Of Asphalt For South 12th Street
Tulsa County workers were applying asphalt to South 12th Street Wednesday August 31, 2013. I belives the new surface was to reach from Main Street to the railrord crossing south of town. Collinsville pays for the material and Tulsa County crews supply the machines and labor. The 12th Street project has been planned for months but waiting for the Tulsa County crew be be available from other county projects.
Water Tower Maintenance Work Continues
Contractors continue work on cleaning and repainting the interior of the main city water tower. Phil Stowell (City Public Works Director) reported the contractors had "blasted and primed" the bottom of the tower and were about a third of the way up the sides with blasting the rust off before more painting. Stowell also reported repair of an internal overflow pipe was required. The cooler and wetter than normal July has made this summer maintenance effort a non-issue with the city relying on a secondary tower (south west of town) to supply city water with the main tower empty for weeks. -- Ted 7/31/2013
Higeons Retires
Billy Higeons retired recently after ~50 years of service to the City of Collinsville. I did not find out about his retirement party until after the fact so only have the 2006 photo above when he was still in uniform as a Collinsville police officer. -- Ted
