Colby Phillips
(Update For 2011 CHS Graduate)
Update: After graduating High School Colby attended TCC and NEO Miami, but a little over a year ago started on his journey to join the ARMY. In May of 2012, Colby began a strict exercise and weight loss program to help him reach his goal. Colby’s starting weight in May 2012 was 305 lbs. On August 17, 2012, Colby’s swearing into the ARMY took place. And on January 7, 2013, weighing 204 lbs, Colby left out of Tulsa for OSUT (One Station Unit Training) in Fort Benning, Georgia. On May 9, 2013, Colby graduated OSUT with the highest scores in PT and weighing in at 197. Upon his return home on May 10, 2013, Colby was then married (to Jessica Giles of Broken Arrow) on May 11, 2013 and left out of Seattle on May 14, 2013 to serve a year term in South Korea. We are so proud of his accomplishments and his willingness to make a sacrifice that only a few are willing to make. I just wanted to share these accomplishments and express how grateful I am to be an ARMY Mom. ARMY STRONG!

LOCAL FFA MEMBERS ATTEND LEADERSHIP CAMP

The Collinsville FFA chapter will be represented at the 41st annual Oklahoma FFA Alumni Leadership Camp at Tulakogee Conference Center on Fort Gibson Lake near Wagoner. More than 1,500 FFA members from 275 Oklahoma FFA chapters are registered to attend one of four 3½-day sessions June 30 – July 13, including Morgan West. This year’s camp will engage campers in fun-filled, action-packed activities focused on setting goals on both the personal and FFA chapter levels.

Special presenters include motivational speakers Bill Cordes, Kansas; Josh Sundquist, Washington, D.C.; and veterinarian turned hypnotist, Dr. Al Snyder, Wisconsin. The leadership camp is sponsored by the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association with financial support provided by the Oklahoma Ford Dealers, Sonic – America’s Drive-In and Devon Energy.

The FFA and FFA Alumni are an integral part of the Agricultural Education Division within the Oklahoma CareerTech system. The primary aim of the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association is to provide a strong, efficient statewide organization to promote, serve and support agricultural education and the FFA.
