The CHS Wrestlers had a spirited send off with a pep rally at the high school Friday afternoon. Coach Harding introduced the wrestlers (above) and Athletic Director Jim Riley (left) even lead a cheer for the cheerleaders.
Quick Summary: With 9 pins against Deer Creek and 6 pins and 3 forfeits against Coweta the first two duals were never in question. But in the finals against MacArthur, every point was critical with many low scoring matches (including 2 overtime wins and a takedown at the buzzer to avoid a 3rd overtime). -- Ted
Dylan Helm pinned his Deer Creek opponent at 145 and decisioned his next two opponents.

After the last finals concluded the Cardinals celebration was a bit subdued having "been there before" and having been decisioned in the last two weights of the evening. I suspect it was more of a relief as they have such big expectations placed on them, which they are capable of meeting. -- Ted
Gary Wayne Harding got the finals started off with a pin of his 138 pound Lawton MacArthur opponent. Gary also had another pin and a forfiet.

You get more crowd reaction than wrestling action in this photo at the end of Keenan Priddy's 3-1 win at 195 -vs- McArthur. The reaction is for the two fingers raised by the referee for Keenan's takedown just seconds before the end of the third period which had been tied 1-1. Priddy decisioned his Deer Creek opponent and had a forfeit by Coweta.
There was action on 4 mats at once during the first two rounds at Claremore Saturday. With just two mats for the finals (5A & 6A).
Ryan Heiden (126) started the Deer Creek Dual with the first of 5 straight pins by the Cardinals.
Coach Harding hoisted the 2013 5A Dual State Championship trophy before handing it off to his eager wrestlers.
