CHS Basketball At Claremore
2 Varsity Losses Open Season
Lady Cardinals 46-49
Guy Cardinals 29-43
Mallory Vaughn (#44) made her first varsity start (as a freshman) along with four junior starters: Sawyer Salisbury (#20), Caroline Sallee (#10), Dakota Jefferson (#21), and Taylor O'Dell (#12). Maddy Vaughn (#33) had lots of playing time off the bench. Freshman Brittany Kickapoo (#15) also saw action. The bench is lined out with many more talented freshman. (No seniors or sophmore girls this year.)

Ted's Observations: Girls had late lead (1:12 4Q) but needed a 3-pointer in the closing minute but couldn't get it to fall. Early Lady Cards turnovers were nearly as numerous as Claremore 3-pointers. Boys played well in first half and got within 1 with a Kanyon Cole buzzer beater before halftime but couldn't get shots to fall in the 2nd half while giving Claremore many easy shots inside. The guys also had two players who only reported to basketball practice the day before this first game ... due to football playoff success.
