Homecoming Parade Information |
The Homecoming parade will be Friday Oct 5th at 3:30pm. It will begin from the city park on 15th street and travel east on Main Street to 7th street. Line-up will begin at 2:30 at the City Park. You do not need to sign up to be in the parade. Vehicles must enter the park from the west entrance and exit at the east entrance. During the line-up, the road through the park will be ONE-WAY, for the safety of the children. NO vehicles will be allowed to enter the park from the east entrance. When you get to the parade line-up please don't leave any float unattended until you have been told where to park. All vehicles and/or floats need to pull forward as far as they can in the line-up and park on the right side of the road. There is no specific order! It's first come, first in line, with the exception of the band and royalty who are always at the front. If you want to be next to a specific group then you need to arrive at the same time. It will NOT be possible to "save" a space for any group. Please be aware of this before you arrive. Vehicles not driving in the parade will need to park as far off to the left side of the park road as possible. Please decorate all vehicles/floats. As always, no 4-wheelers, go-carts, motorcycles, etc. will be allowed. All drivers must be adults, NO current student, regardless of age, may drive a float/vehicle in the parade. Vehicles must also have a passenger to help monitor riders. Floats with Elementary children must have parents riding on the floats with the children. No candy may be thrown from any vehicle or float, however, this year we will allow candy to be handed out by adults walking beside the float. Please follow this rule! Coaches/parents: please discuss with your children/players the importance of parade safety. The parade is a school sponsored activity so any misbehavior could result in disciplinary actions. For more information contact Missy DeLozier at mdelozier@collinsville.k12.ok.us If you have questions please use email to contact me. It is difficult to return phone calls during the school day. -- Missy DeLozier (9/10/2012) |

COLT conferences keynote speaker Josh Brecheen |
On
September 11, 2012 four Collinsville FFA officers went to the Northeast
District COLT Conference in Tulsa. COLT is an acronym and stands for
chapter officer leadership training. Some 400 members were in attendance
and Senator Josh Brecheen was the keynote speaker. His speech was extremely
inspirational. Our lifes powerful he said, and then
he went on to say there are those who waste their opportunities
in life and those who are visionaries and be all there in their lives.
Thats one thing that we all should learn to do; we should be all
there in our lives- never waste a minute. Later on in his speech he said
dont settle in your life- dont settle for a B or a C
when youve studied for an A. Thats one thing that the
Oklahoma FFA has learned over the year; there are 21 national Proficiency
Award Finalists (only 2 other states have this acclaim), 8 National Chorus
Members, 6 National Band Members, and 34 3-star chapters. After the speech
was over, there were several workshops that took place as the leadership
training and our officers learned that communication is extremely important
in your life and in the lives of others. We learned to establish GREAT
Goals which are genuine realistic expectations accountability timeline.
One of Collinsville FFAs GREAT Goals is to make a Homecoming Float,
have a Christmas Party, hand out candy during Halloween, and to plan our
annual banquet. Just remember that what you do doesnt matter; just
be all there in your life.
