CARDINAL FOOTBALL

Jr. High Update

10-5-2012

The Collinsville Cardinals and the Pryor Tigers squared off Thursday night at Sallee Field for a Metro Lakes Conference contest. The slugfest between the “Boys of Fall” proved to be a well matched battle all night long.

In the 7th grade game the Cardinals had to overcome two key injuries which occurred during the week of preparation for the Tigers. Cameron Camp and Mathew Blissit were unable to participate due to injuries. Camp, the Cardinal center and nose tackle, broke his hand in practice while Blissit, Mr. Do Everything for the Cardinals, suffered a mild concussion. Both players hopefully will return in a couple of weeks. Back to the game. The Pryor Tigers had some big boys up front which controlled the LOS all night. They also had big tough backs which proved difference makers in the game. Tigers win 20-6. The Cardinals will go to work next week to get better.

In the 8th and 9th grade games the Cardinal offense controlled the LOS with outstanding blocking by the O-Line. The Collinsville backs pounded the Pryor forcing unit and ran wild in the Tigers secondary. But let us not forget the Cardinal defense, as the Cardinals captured the Tigers and slammed the cage doors shut. Good Guys Win!! Sam West suffered a knee injury.

8th grade, Cardinals, 22, Tigers, 8

9th grade, Cardinals, 27 Tigers, 12

Both 8th and 9th grade teams continue their quest for the Metro Lakes Conference title.

Our next opponent is the Skiatook Bulldogs. The Highway 20 rivalry will be played at Skiatook. Games begin at 5:00pm.

There will be no practice during Fall Break. After Fall Break we will play our final opponent, Oologah on Tuesday, October 23rd at Oologah.

A great big thank you goes to the Quarterback Club for the Hoodies. The players really appreciate them. They will used as the Varsity advances in the play-offs.
