Former Collinsville resident Gerri Hanten (CHS class of 1969) has won the prestigious EPIC Award for her debut novel, RiverTime, written under the pen name Rae Renzi. The EPIC Award is given each year to the winner of a national competition for excellence in genre fiction, and was presented at the annual conference of the E-Publishing Industry Coalition in San Antonio, Texas. Ms. Hanten was also invited to present (as Rae Renzi) at the South Carolina Book Festival, held in Columbia, South Carolina May 17-20, where she announced the release in late August 2012 of her newest novel, DogDaze, a contemporary adventure romance.

Gerri grew up in Collinsville, but now lives in Houston, Texas where she is on the research faculty of the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine, and an adjunct professor in the Dept. of Psychology at Rice University. She can be reached on her website at www.RaeRenzi.com, or by email at RaeRenzi@gmail.com.
