Mid-Winter Report

This is a special time of the year. The Christmas spirit is upon us and half the school year is behind us. We can reflect back on our accomplishments in 2012 and begin to focus on what we wish to accomplish in 2013.

In 2012, our 8th grade accomplished an amazing goal of “back to back” Metro Lakes Conference Champions. Congratulations 8th grade on a fantastic feat. Our 9th grade finished runner up for the second year in a row and won the Metro Lakes Championship during their 7th grade year. This freshmen class will be a tremendous asset to the varsity program. Our 7th grade team is in a position to show great growth. During the season they worked hard each day, but never could get it together on game night. There is opportunity for them to be very successful next year. Whether you were blessed with a championship, or struggled to win a game, the New Year presents opportunity.

Since the end of October our winter sports athletes have been competing well in wrestling and basketball. The athletes not involved in a winter sport have been hard at it in off-season. Some ask “what is off-season?” Well, it is a combination of weight room, core exercises, agility drills, flexibility drills, speed development, character development, and just plain hard work. It is the foundation of a championship program. It is amazing the improvement our players demonstrate during this time. Their bodies show gains in strength and size as a result of the weight room.

I am thankful to be a part of a coaching staff that receives this opportunity to coach these outstanding young athletes. The hard work will be rewarded in the coming months and be a constant reminder of what “CODE RED” is all about. Our classroom efforts are doing great. Grades are better than they have ever been, thanks to our fabulous teachers.

So, Merry Christmas and enjoy the incoming of a new year.
It’s great to be a Cardinal!!
