Just One Sample Of Many Grass Fires
Keeping All Firefighters Busy During This Heat & Drought
Collinsville Rural & City + Limestone Firefighters controlled a grass & brush fire near several houses on either side of 113th E. Ave. (19th) near 138th St. N. starting about 2:10pm Wednesday August. 1, 2012.
A nearby neighbor was bringing some cold water to offer the firefighters after they had things under control here Wednesday during the record heat. I have since seen Facebook postings that Verdigris Valley Electric Cooperative (VVEC) has donated a big supply of water and Gatorade to both Collinsville City Fire and Collinsville Rural Fire Departments. This is the only grass fire photo I've put on cvilleok recently but all local fire departments have been working multiple grass fires almost daily for weeks (either locally or for mutual aide in neighboring communities).
