Wilson Elementary staff, students, and parents all worked together March 6th with (McTeacher Night) McDonald's on 116th Street to raise funds for playground equipment for Wilson Elementary. McDonald's donated a percentage of the total sales made during the hours of 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm that Wilson staff worked the event and 100% total sales of apple and cherry pies sold. P & K Equipment also donated two Gator remote control vehicles that raffle tickets were sold for and were given to the raffle ticket winners. Total raffle ticket sales were donated to Wilson.

Harry and Beverly Lossing with McDonald's presented a check to Mrs. Hunt, principal, and the entire student body at Wilson for the grand total raised for Wilson Elementary - $3,592.33. Wow! Thanks McDonald's, Wilson staff, students, and parents for all your hard work and help!

Youthful Drunk Driving Program
CRASHs Court Program

Press Release --

Tulsa County District Court
Judge Barcus Calls CRASHs Court to Order at Collinsville High School

Too Young to Drive, Too Young to Drive Drunk, Not Too Young to Ride With a Drunk Driver

Prevention can never start too early! CRASHs Court is being convened at Collinsville High School Gymnasium. High school students will be in attendance when Judge Mark Barcus calls CRASHs Court to order on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. Collinsville High School Gymnasium is located at 2400 W. Broadway in Collinsville, Oklahoma.

More Oklahoma youth are killed in automobile crashes than by any other single cause. This fact makes it essential for youth to be educated, not only about drinking and driving, but also about using seat belts regularly and not riding with anyone who has been drinking. Last year’s CRASHs Court evaluation sampled freshman and found that over 24% of respondent’s reported having ridden with a friend or peer who had been drinking within the previous two (2) hours. More astonishing, the same respondents reported 33% had ridden with a parent or other adult who had been drinking or using within the previous two (2) hours.

CRASHs Court demonstrates the harsh reality and consequences of impaired driving and alcohol use by persons under 21. Real defendants are sentenced in real court by a real judge. This illustration of the legal consequence of breaking the law by drinking and driving captures the attention of the young students watching the court proceedings. Early intervention is key for the prevention of impaired driving and to save lives.

For more information on the CRASHs Court Program, please contact Judy Phillips at 918-588-8403. CRASHs Court is funded by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office.

Alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes kill someone every
31 minutes and injure someone every 2 minutes

Fraud Charges Filed Against Marshall Virden in Tulsa County

Tulsa - Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak announces that additional charges have been filed in Tulsa County against Marshall Virden. The victim, a resident of Collinsville, OK, has come forward alleging that Virden defrauded him of more than $2,000.

Oklahoma Insurance Department investigators found that the victim came to know Virden through their parents who were current clients. Virden was delivering an order of silver coins to the victim's parents when he met and began discussing investments with the victim. Virden used his existing relationship with the parents to persuade the victim to purchase silver.

The OID's investigation revealed that after one month and numerous unreturned phone calls the victim tried visiting Virden. After several attempts, the victim learned that Virden had left town without his wife and with all of his money.

"We do not yet know the full scope of Virden's activity in Oklahoma. Our Anti-Fraud Unit is committed to making sure that all of Virden's alleged crimes are uncovered and that justice will be delivered," said Doak.

Please contact the Oklahoma Insurance Department's Anti-Fraud Unit at 405-521-6614 if you believe you have been victimized.

Hannah's Helping Hands, Inc. — Our Mission
We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization providing financial assistance to families with children battling cancer. Many families need help with the most basic needs for their families during this fight for their child’s life. Some must leave work for months and even years to care for their sick child and the financial loss can be devastating. Our goal is to help as many families being treated locally as possible. We help with basic needs such as gas & food cards, groceries, wigs, utility payments, prescriptions, medical co-payments, rent/housing as well as other expenses. Our referrals come from doctors, nurses and staff at a local children’s hospital in Tulsa as well as our local communities.
