Jr. Hi Update
CARDINAL FOOTBALL
September 8, 2011

The Collinsville Jr. Hi Football program showed signs of a “chivalry” this past Thursday night in their season opener against the Claremore Zebras. All three games were very evenly matched in talent and effort. The competition and sportsmanship display through out the night was a complement to the game of Football and athletic competition.
The 7th grade was explosive on offense. With only 4 offensive plays in the first quarter the Cardinals lead 14-0 at the half. The defense bowed up in second half and crushed the ground game of the Zebras. Final score, 20-6. No injuries were reported.
The 8th grade DEFENSE was devastating to the Zebras. The defense captured and kept captive the Zebra offense all night long. The offense of the Cardinals punished the Zebra defense with both the air assault and ground attack. The kicking game was outstanding! Final score, 28-6. No injuries were reported.
The 9th grade game was two totally different styles of offenses on the field. The Cardinals “spread attack” vs the ground game of the Zebras. Claremore had a tough running back that was hard to tackle. The Cardinals entered the game with several key players missing due to injuries over the past several days. The Cardinal offense had several nice drives during the contest but could not finish in the zone. Zebras win, 27-0.
All three teams will continue to work on the fundamentals of blocking and tackling, as they prepare for this Thursdays game against the Tulsa Kelley Comets. The contest is at Tulsa Kelley and games begin at 5:00pm.
