Derek Thurman Has Created
RSU Fishing Team

Rogers State University has sanctioned the Collegiate Bass Fishing Club founded by Collinsville's Derek Thurman. The first tournament will be March 19th at Toledo Bend. Derek (a recent CHS graduate) has been working on his personal fishing career for at least 8 years, but was able to get the collegiate sanction for "his team" within a couple weeks of my his semester at RSU. Derek has offered to provide additional information on the team and what they hope to accomplish. They will be hosting kids fishing derbies and a charity tournament. Young Mr. Thurman recently lost his grandfather after a year long battle with cancer and wants to support charitable events for cancer foundation. He is also interested in getting kids into fishing to let them experience new things and have new oportunities. Derek is joined in this effort by fellow Collinsville graduate (2008) Jarrod Shearer.

Can You Help Sponsor Post-Prom Safe Environment?
March 11, 2011

Good Day,

We hope that you will choose to sponsor a worthy endeavor and help our “kids” enjoy a safe and entertaining event. As members of the Collinsville Safe Prom Committee we provide a safe, alcohol-free environment for students following the Collinsville Prom.

We will provide entertainment, door prizes and refreshments for any student wishing to participate. It is expected that between 150-300 students will be in attendance. As you are probably aware, it is a costly venture to provide this safe environment for our students. The cost per student is approximately $25.00, setting our fundraising goal at $7,500.00

Monetary donations, door prizes, food or beverage items would allow us to provide entertainment and food to students, while providing a responsible alternative to drinking for Collinsville teens. This is an opportunity to support your community and lend assistance to an important cause.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email one of the committee members listed below. We will be glad to make any necessary arrangements for pick up of your contributions.

Sincerely,

Thank you for your assistance, we could not have this event without generous sponsors like you!
