HIGH SCHOOL BLOOD DRIVE |

by Student Council |
News Release --
Media Contact: Jan Hale, 918-344-0720 redcrossblood.org Join an elite group at your school; donate blood with the American Red Cross (Collinsville, OK. March, 2011) Helping save lives with the American Red Cross isnt rocket science. Its really simple math: one donor may help save the lives of three people. When you donate blood at a Red Cross blood drive, you join an elite group of students lifesaving blood donors. Locally, donations can be made at the Collinsville High School blood drive, sponsored by Student Council. The drive is Friday, March 25 from 8 am to 1 pm, in the Gym. Please contact Ms. Martinez to sign up. All presenting donors receive a Give Hope t-shirt. When it comes to giving blood, you dont have to be a wizard in the classroom, prom king or queen, or even a top athlete, said Stephen Nagle, CEO, Southwest Region. You simply need a desire to help people in need. Those in need of blood often include accident or trauma victims, premature babies, cancer patients as well as people undergoing surgeries at area hospitals. Those in need can be your friend, your sibling, your classmate, your teacher or just about anyone else in your life. We want students to be proud of their contributions to the community. Whether they text their friends, post information on Facebook, or even make a video about donating, young people are encouraged to help spread the word about this unique opportunity to help save lives. The girls had a great season this year with a record of 23-4. They scored a team total 534 points and allowed only 150 total points. In addition to winning the End of the Season Tournament they also won the Pre-season Skiatook Tournament, Sperry Tournament and Catoosa Tournament. The girls and parents would like to thank Head Coach Roberta Kickapoo and Asst. Coach Keith DeLozier for all of their hard work this season in teaching the girls the skills they will need for future competition as the girls move forward to 7th grade school ball. -- Missy Delozier (3/2/2011) |
