Young Cardinal Wrestlers Bring Home 8 Medals, OW, and 2nd Place Team Trophy
The Collinsville Wrestling team made a huge haul of awards and hardware from the Cushing Invitational this weekend. First year head coach Wes Harding's young Cardinals won 4 1st plc medals, 1 2nd plc, 1 3rd plc, 1 4th plc and 1 6th plc, along with Outstanding Wrestler Award for the lighter weights. Freshman 112 pounder Gary Wayne Harding was voted OW for his 7-1 decision over Perry's State Champion John Mannly in the finals. Other medal winners were 103 lb Jacob Findley, Fr, won 1st. Fr 119 lb Will Steltzen finished 3rd. Soph, 125 lb Dylan Helm placed 2nd. Soph 135 lb Zach Abkemierer won 1st. Sr 145 lb Josh Pennington won 1st. Jr 152 lb Grant Patton place 4th and Fr 189 lb Kenan Priddy finished 6th. Collinsville finished 2nd in the team race behind Allen, TX and just in front of another OK Class 5A team Edmond Dear Creek. The next action for the Cardinals is Tuesday as they host the 5A district 7 duals with Grove, Pryor, and Tulsa Hale. Starting time is 4:00.
