Hot Nights ... But Even Hotter Days
After an afternoon high of at least 109 here ... it was still 100 degrees after 10pm Tuesday evening. The overnight "low" Tuesday morning had been 87 which was the highest low ever for Tulsa. -- August 2, 2011
Note: There have been too many miserably hot days this summer to keep track of all the numbers ... but it seems the CHS therometer typically shows Collinsville at least 2-3 degrees "cooler" than the "official" Tulsa airport readings reported on TV.
Spunky Cardinal

Having had both cats and birds in my yard for years, I've had more occasions than I wish that the cats have had a bird for a meal. Wednesday evening I witnessed a brave Cardinal ignoring that danger and eating the food left behind by the cats in their bowl. The bright red male Cardinal then hopped over to the trampoline and fed bits of that food to a young offspring (below). -- Ted

Bird Bath?
I've been working to keep my dog and cats healthy in this heat but had not given much thought to birds until I started working on this page. I'm sure they could use some extra water and maybe some food that's not already heat dried. -- Ted
