Dividing Bread Ministry
(Girl Scout) Grand Opening
My name is Kaylee Sykes and I am a member of Girl Scout troop #2036. We have been working with Dividing Bread Ministry in Collinsville for our Silver Award project. We are planning a grand opening to help people in Collinsville learn more about this store and food pantry. Our troop will be advertising it around town and we were hoping you could put something on your website about it for people to read. It will be on Saturday, May 7th from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. We will be doing games and face painting and serving food and drinks. The store will also be open for shopping and we will be taking monetary donations to help Dividing Bread. Thank yoiu for your help.

Sincerely,
Kaylee Sykes

Ted,
My name is Ethan Carothers. I signed to play soccer at Oklahoma Wesleyan University last year. I am transferring to play soccer at NEO in Miami, OK next semester. I will send a picture later tonight of my unofficial signing. -- Ethan (4/22/2011)
Ethan (right) didn't identify who was in the photo, but I believe that's James Norris also at the signing table Friday April 22nd.

70+ Year Old Biker On The Road For 3 Years

I've had 4 days to try and decide how to best describe William Minor (above in the grey shirt) in just a few words.
I met William at the Collinsville Rural Fire Department Thursday evening April 21st, 2011, after Tim Nelson (above in orange shirt) contacted me. William is from Pennsylvania but has been on the road via bicycle (& attached side pack) for the past three years (~13K miles). Mr. Minor tries to visit as many fire departments as he can in his travels to honor their noble efforts. But the fundamental reason for his travels is more elusive. He is a former journalist (Miami Herald in Florida) who is on a quest (as I understand it) to be ahead of what he believes is an unfolding story of "significant" changes in weather patterns, earthquakes and volcanos.

His recent travels in Oklahoma have been driven by instinct, weather, seismic & other data he gathers daily from observation, conversation and the internet. He had concerns with changes to the jet stream, dry line and recent drought here. He said that he had not wanted to leave Oklahoma until we had rain ... which he saw here Thursday. I don't know if he stayed for the day-long rain Sunday and continuing rain today (4/25/2011).

His quest (from what I gathered in just a brief visit) is much deeper but I'm gonna have to keep this brief to have any chance of meeting my May 1st deadline to put the ~170 CHS 2010 grad pages online. -- Ted Wright

The fire house dog checks out William Minor's mode of transportation which was parked inside the Collinsville Rural Fire Department Thursday.
