Honorary Baseball Cardinal For The Day
Collinsville special needs 2nd grader Gavin Proctor joined the CHS Baseball Cardinals in their pre-game activities Tuesday April 5th. He accompanied CHS Coach Tony Reeder to deliver the line-up card and game balls to the umpires and opposing coach as the players waited to take the field.
Collinsville freshman Conner Crutchfield (#16) started on the pitcher's mound for the Cardinals (with Hunter West #10 in right field).
Trent Lee (#4) prepares to round 3rd base to score the second run for the Cardinals in the first inning. Brant Werdell led off with a double and was advanced by a Tyler Sherwood sacrifice bunt. Lee's double scored Werdell. Trevor Rabbit's RBI single scored Lee from 2nd base (above).
Conner Crutchfield had a 2 run lead and cruised through the first 5 Cascia Hall batters but the 6th out was elusive as Cascia finished the 2nd inning with 8 runs.
Brennan Doss (#7) came on to get the final out of the 2nd inning but was also chased by the hot Cascia Hall hitters in the 3rd.
Tanner Robb (#2) was on the mound (still in the 3rd inning) when I left Tuesday to get some soccer photos. The score then was 2-14. The 4/6/2011 Tulsa World reported the final score as 13-24.
